McArthurGlen Designer Outlet near YVR will have its annual Black Friday sale event starting tomorrow. | Submitted

Travellers and shoppers will have to plan for increased vehicle traffic near Vancouver International Airport (YVR) this Black Friday weekend.

YVR issued a traffic advisory Thursday to warn of increased traffic from McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Centre's annual Black Friday sale.

Travellers and those dropping off and picking up loved ones are advised to take the Canada Line instead of driving. Those who choose to drive should plan for delays and have a parking plan, such as pre-booking parking at YVR.

Flight passengers are asked to check their flight status with their airlines and monitor traffic reports.

Shoppers should also consider taking the Canada Line to Templeton Station instead, as drivers may experience delays entering the outlet.

RCMP officers, traffic management personnel and roadway signage will be in place to guide drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
