Vancouver, Victoria, Smithers and Prince George protestors are planning rallies against oil and gas pipelines tomorrow, as part of national and international actions spearheaded by the Unis’tot’en clan of the Wet’suwet’en Nation in B.C.’s Central Interior.

According to the Unis’tot’en, last week a Wet’suwet’en chief issued an eagle feather symbolizing trespass to surveyors from Can-Am Geomatics working for Apache Canada Ltd.’s proposed shale gas Pacific Trails pipeline.

The Unis’tot’en have stated that they appose all pipelines slated to cross their territories, which include Enbridge Inc.’s (TSX:ENB) proposed Northern Gateway pipeline.

According to the Unis’tot’en, 13 protests are being planned for tomorrow. The bulk of the protests are being planned across Canada, but the group states that protests will also take place in Chico, California, and in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Unis’tot’en are encouraging other protestors to come forward and organize further rallies for tomorrow “to ensure that corporations corporations, investors and governments get a clear message that they have no right or jurisdiction to approve development on Unist’ot’en lands.”

The group’s website provides potential supporters with information on how to plan protests.

“The Unis’tot’en are now calling for solidarity and support actions to reaffirm their position and to amplify the message to industry and government that no proposed pipelines will proceed in their territories,” it states.
