Incognito Software Systems is partnering up with two Chinese cable operators to support wireless Internet services to 21 million customers across the Pacific.

Over the next two months the Vancouver-based networking software company is rolling out a software management tool for broadband services to Guangdong Provincial CATV and Chongqing CATV.

With about 15 million subscribers, Guangdong Provincial CATV is the world’s third largest cable provider behind U.S.-based Comcast and Europe’s UPC.

“We’ve been working in China for about eight years and we’ve seen China, for example, go from very small providers and a very fragmented network to one of these very large provincial- or city-driven providers,” said Incognito president Stephane Bourque.

Incognito has sold products to about 50 other operators in China, but Bourque said the latest deal is the first the company has inked with the much larger Guangdong Provincial CATV and Chongqing CATV.

Incognito sold two separate software suites to the respective providers, allowing the Chinese companies to better manage and monitor wireless Internet services to their customers.

The mainland China cable providers say they’re expanding offerings to users that wish to manage devices using WiFi, Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) and high-speed data for gaming.

“The Chinese broadband landscape has been maturing steadily over the years,” Zhang Yong, vice-chief technical officer of Chongqing CATV, said in a statement.

“To support the needs of our customers, we need to extend the capabilities of our internal systems to support various scenarios and new services. The Incognito solution helps us achieve this while also helping us establish more streamlined and intelligent operational processes.”

Incognito had record sales in China in 2015 after doubling sales from a year prior, according to Bourque.

“It’s very nice to see China, who eight years ago, was providing very minimum services to subscribers now investing in hardware and software infrastructure to provide [customers] world-class quality service,” he said.
