WestJet will substantially increase its presence at Vancouver International Airport this summer by adding a combined 60 flights per week to nine routes.

It will also launch a new route, to Mexico City, on March 15 with three flights per week and increase service on that route to be daily service starting April 29.

Immediate increases will come on three routes:

•Vancouver-Edmonton to 59 from 50 times weekly, or nine times per business day;

•Vancouver-Fort St. John to 12 from six times weekly; and,

•Vancouver-Victoria to 35 from 33 times weekly.

The biggest increase in frequency will be on the Vancouver-to-Calgary route, where the Calgary-based airline will add 24 flights per week to the current 88 flights per week but that increase will not be in place until April 30.

Other increases to flight frequency that kick in on April 30 are on the following routes:

•Vancouver-Kelowna to 49 from 40 times weekly;

•Vancouver-Ottawa to 14 from seven times weekly;

•Vancouver-Regina to seven from six times weekly;

•Vancouver-Cancun, to three from two times weekly; and,

•Vancouver-Cabo San Lucas to twice a week up from once a week.
