Finding a unique venue to hold your next corporate event can be a challenge. Science World at TELUS World of Science offers a variety of distinctive venues under its iconic dome. From an intimate group of 20 to a large gathering of 1,800, indoors or outdoors, you don’t need to be a science whiz to enjoy an out-of-this-world experience at Science World.

Originally constructed for Expo 86, Science World’s golf ball-shaped structure is actually a geodesic dome. The American inventor R. Buckminster Fuller created and patented the geodesic dome in 1954, and this distinctive design has made Science World one of the most photographed buildings in Vancouver. Its location on False Creek makes for fabulous photographs by day or night, when the dome is lit up, often in a variety of colours to celebrate festive occasions or to highlight various causes.

This instantly recognizable landmark is a beloved fixture in Vancouver and a favourite family destination where children can learn about science in fun, entertaining ways. But Science World isn’t just for kids. It’s a fun place for adults to indulge their inner child too. The hands-on galleries, 200- and 400-seat theatres and outdoor spaces provide the perfect entertainment areas for clients and employees. The Green Roof Terrace and patio provide a picture-perfect location for a reception, cocktail party, buffet or sit-down dinner.

A select group of Vancouver’s finest caterers can create a sumptuous menu for your event. They have worked extensively with Science World’s special events team to produce unforgettable culinary experiences—and will make your event a memorable one.

The Green Roof is a stunning location to hold a special party or wedding reception. The patio area is covered by a 45-ft by 50-ft tent which can comfortably seat 170 guests for a sit-down dinner. Guests can enjoy music and dancing under the tent with a fabulous view of the sunset and the lights of downtown Vancouver, including the colourfully lit BC Place roof, reflected in the water. It’s one of the most spectacular views in Vancouver. Public access to this area is restricted, making it your own private rooftop hideaway.

Of course, one of the reasons that Science World is such an appealing place to hold a corporate event is that guests can explore Science World’s features after hours. As a kid, who hasn’t dreamt of staying behind after the doors close to explore your favourite exhibits and enjoy fun science-based activities with no one else around? Holding an event at Science World allows big kids to live out their dreams.

Receptions and dinners can be held in most of Science World’s galleries, the outside decks and circulation areas on levels 1 and 2. The Eureka! Gallery features a spectacular water table, ball launchers and walk-on piano. Eureka! brings out the curious scientist in everyone. In the Search: Sara Stern Gallery, your guests can crawl through a real beaver lodge, sink their fingers into a bear’s furry coat, listen to the buzz of bees and stand beneath a towering T. Rex. The entire building can be rented for large corporate events.

The OMNIMAX® Theatre can also be rented, either for theatre use alone, or a film can be screened for your private viewing on the largest OMNIMAX® dome screen in the world! Measuring 5 storeys high and 27 metres in diameter, the amazing wrap-around digital sound system will blow your guests’ socks off.

Another unbeatable aspect of Science World is its location. It is five minutes from downtown Vancouver with adjacent parking and the Main Street-Science World Skytrain Station just steps away, making it one of the most convenient and easily accessible venues in town.
