A contract with ATB Riva Calzoni Hydro Canada Inc. has been signed to provide the hydromechanical equipment for the Site C dam, BC Hydro announced Thursday.

With the $68-million contract, ATB will be responsible for the equipment supporting the waterworks of the dam, including the design, supply, and commissioning of gates, hoists, and other parts association with the generating station and spillways.

"ATB is an internationally-renowned company that specializes in designing, manufacturing and supplying hydromechanical equipment for hydroelectric projects all over the world," BC Hydro said in an information bulletin May 31.

"Having successfully worked on projects in Europe, Asia and South America, ATB has now established operations in North America for their contract with the Site C project."

The company will mobilize to the site in the summer. The work will be completed over a five year period, BC Hydro said.

BC Hydro received nine submissions for the work. ATB was one of four shortlisted companies announced in February 2017.
