What happened: BC Tech Association reveals 35 finalists for annual Technology Impact Awards
Why it matters: Awards recognize significant achievements in the province’s technology ecosystem
A VR developer that’s helping surgeons prepare for the operating room and a medical technology company specializing in novel blood test technology are among the finalists for the 2019 Technology Impact Awards.
“The TIA finalists are each excellent examples of companies, organizations and individuals who are fuelling new levels of growth and global competitiveness across British Columbia,” BC Tech Association president and CEO Jill Tipping, whose organization facilitates the awards, said in a statement.
“Recognizing and celebrating these innovators is part of BC Tech’s mission to make B.C. the best place to grow and scale a tech company and the recognition that today every company is a tech company.”
A total of 35 finalists among 10 categories were announced April 26.
In addition to the usual awards, BC Tech added two new categories this year: Spirit of BC Tech — True Grit and Excellence in Global Export.
Winners will be revealed at an awards gala June 27.
