What happened: Rogers is launching a new customer service centre in the Okanagan
Why it matters: The new centre will add as many as 500 jobs to Kelowna
Hundreds of new jobs will be landing in Kelowna as Rogers Communications Inc. (TSX:RCI.A) looks to boost its customer service offerings with a new centre in the Okanagan.
The telecom giant revealed plans Thursday (September 26) to hire 350 workers for its new customer service centre set to open by summer 2020.
The Kelowna workers are expected to handle about 1 million “interactions” annually with customers from Rogers and subsidiary banner Fido, according to the company.
Meanwhile, Rogers said the centre would add another 150 workers “over time” in addition to the 350 workers that will be there from the outset.
A PwC Canada analysis for Rogers estimated the company’s economic footprint in B.C. amounted to $2 billion in 2018.
