Trans Mountain sent an email entitled “Burnaby construction updates” to subscribers on Wednesday that included an item about the tunnel that is supposed to go through Burnaby Mountain.

“Crews will be boring the 2.6 km Burnaby Mountain Tunnel between Burnaby Terminal and Westridge Marine Terminal,” the company says. “Construction of the tunnel will be completed from portals at either end of the tunnel within the terminals. The tunnel will be bored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Once boring is complete, pipelines will be installed in the tunnel and hydrostatic testing performed. Finally, the tunnel will be backfilled.”

This item includes an asterisk and a line saying that “work may begin as early as October, pending all necessary permits and approvals.”
