Development/Construction

Dollina Rodocker has joined Bird Construction as an executive assistant. She brings more than a decade of administration and senior-level executive assistant experience to the position.

Ferit Erderin has joined Bird as an estimator. He is a professional quantity surveyor with more than nine years of experience estimating for various industries.

Amy Seehagel has returned to Bird as the firm’s district finance manager. She is a chartered professional accountant with 10 years’ experience. She will be leading finance for Bird’s Vancouver district.

Cannabis

Emerald Health Therapeutics Inc. has announced an internal reorganization. This includes the elimination of a number of positions. Rob Hill, chief financial officer, and Sean Rathbone, chief operating officer, have left the company. Jenn Hepburn, previously the company’s director of finance, has been appointed chief financial officer. Avtar Dhillon is no longer Emerald Health’s president. He will continue on as executive chairman of the company. Emerald Health CEO Riaz Bandali will serve as president and CEO.

Non-Profit

Four individuals have assumed new positions at the Victoria Innovation, Advanced Technology and Entrepreneurship Council (VIATEC).

Lindsay Richmond joins VIATEC as director of leadership and learning. She brings more than a decade of experience designing training solutions for clients – including Telus Corp., BCE Inc. and Voodoo Games – to the role. Richmond will work with VIATEC members to address specific learning and development needs.

Jacquelyn Novak will serve as director of ecosystem talent and strategy. Her experience includes work at Deloitte, where she specialized in strategic talent. She will help develop talent pipelines to meet future hiring needs within Victoria’s technology community.

Sadie Evans will manage marketing and communications. She joins VIATEC from Ingrooves Music Group. Carly McGregor will manage community engagement. 

Laura Efron will leave her position as executive director of the Vancouver Fringe Theatre Society at the end of the year to pursue other professional and personal opportunities. Efron led  the society over the course of two Fringe festivals, during which time she successfully returned the organization to a surplus position. The society’s board of directors will establish a search committee to appoint Efron’s successor.

Transportation

Garth Eichel has joined Helijet International as chief pilot for the company’s fixed-wing division. Prior to Helijet, Eichel served as a B1900 captain at Pacific Coastal Airlines. He was also the owner of Archipelago Media, Helijet’s in-flight magazine.

Real Estate

Bob Cabral has been appointed chief operating officer of PC Urban Properties. Prior to his role at PC Urban, Cabral’s roles included executive vice-president at Anthem Properties, principal at Fiore Properties and chief operating officer at Amacon Group of Cos. Cabral serves as a board director for British Pacific Properties.

Technology

Wilson Su has been appointed chief financial officer at Blok Technologies Inc., where he has also been appointed to the board of directors. Yari Nieken has resigned as Blok Technologies’ interim chief financial officer and as a director of the company’s board.

Hats Off

Business in Vancouver welcomes submissions from local small businesses and large corporations alike that demonstrate examples of corporate philanthropy and community involvement in the Vancouver area. High-resolution images are also welcome.

The Sutton Place Hotel Vancouver donated $22,500 to the PALS Autism Society. The funds will support year-round individualized and specialized education for students with autism. 

BC Gaming Facilities donated $57,000 to the B.C. and Yukon chapter of Children’s Wish Foundation, in support of granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. The funds were raised through the BC Gaming Facilities’ golf tournament.•
