It's the oldest business on Kitsilano's West 4th Avenue, and now the family-run butcher shop, which has been operating in the community since 1911, is getting ready to open a 50-seat restaurant onsite.

"Butcher shop in the back, neighbourhood restaurant in the front," is how Jackson's describes its "Resto-Butcher" project.

The whole venture is run by Chris and Shayna Jackson, who are keeping the family business thriving six generations later.

"Jackson's features a wide variety of the finest-quality meats, including organic, Canada Prime, AAA, free range and game meats, as well as fine foods and dry goods geared to the community’s 'foodies'. We also offer frozen and prepared meals to-go, and even catering services. Need a quick deli sandwich on-the-go? We make a wide variety of delicious and healthy sandwiches right here in the store," notes Jackson's "About" section of their website.

Additionally, Jackson's operates a poultry shop at the Granville Island Public Market.

The butcher shop hasn't shared too many details about the casual restaurant, though if you follow Jackson's on social media you can see not only what prepared foods are available at the shop but also what the Jacksons are cooking up at home using their store's meat. They also quite generously share many of their delicious-looking recipes on social media, too.

The "Resto-Butcher" is in the hiring stages and is aiming for a mid-August opening. Jackson's Meat + Deli is located at 2214 West 4th Avenue in Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood.
