At restaurants across Canada, the first week of September is all about epic burgers during a food event called Le Burger Week.
This year, they've gotten a little cheesy - and organizers have dubbed the fest Le Cheeseburger Week. All participants must feature cheese (or vegan "faux"mage) on their burger creations.
From September 1 through 7, diners are encouraged to visit particpating restaurants in their area, and order up the Le Cheeseburger Week offering. Rather than gather votes this year as in the past, Le Cheeseburger Week is focusing on charity partnerships. Proceeds from select burgers will benefit Centraide and United Way. Sponsors Lightspeed and Saputo will present awards to their favourite burgers, too.
2020 is obviously a different year for restaurants, and Le Cheeseburger Week will have offerings available for dine-in, take-out, or delivery, and those options will vary by restaurant.
Launched nearly a decade ago in Montreal, the annual event has brought burger lovers together in numerous Canadian cities since 2017, when the fest expanded to include Quebec City, Cornwall, Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon and, Vancouver.
In 2019, participating Metro Vancouver restaurants included Bells and Whistles, Bin 4 Burger Lounge, and CAVU Kitchen + Bar.
Stay tuned to find out which Vancouver spots will be part of Le Cheeseburger Week this year.
