Music promoter and controversial radio talk show host Bruce Allen has bought a stake in the Vancouver Giants, the team announced May 13.

Shato Holdings owner Ron Toigo holds a majority stake in the team. Other minority owners, who hold stakes of about the same size as the one that Allen is buying, include:

  • Shato Holdings vice-president Sultan Thiara;
  • National Hockey League Hall of Fame member Gordie Howe;
  • former Vancouver Canucks coach Pat Quinn; and
  • multiple Grammy Award-winning singer Michael Bublé.

“Bruce is a good friend and he brings a lot to the table given that he is one of the top entertainment managers in the world and we’re in the entertainment business,” Toigo told Business in Vancouver May 13.

“Bruce knows how to promote things and has general knowledge about the entertainment industry.”

Allen is a natural fit with this ownership group given his past dealings with some of those owners.

Allen, Bublé, Quinn and Toigo are all involved in Tsawwassen Springs, which is projected to be a $400 million, golf resort and residential neighbourhood in Tsawwassen complete by 2016 and including 490 homes.

Bublé is one of Allen’s clients. Other artists whose careers Allen has managed through the decades have included Bryan Adams, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Loverboy and Anne Murray.
