FundRazr, the Vancouver crowdfunding platform for non-commercial fundraising campaigns, will extend its reach beyond the web when a new TV program, The Crowdfunder Show, hits the airwaves later this month.

The weekly TV show, created by Merton TV (Merton Park Film Studios), will highlight various crowdfunding projects, with campaigns hosted online by FundRazr.

The show will initially broadcast later this month in New York, Toronto and southern Ontario, according to FundRazr founder and CEO Daryl Hatton.

"It's supposed to go national, once they've tested the concept a bit," Hatton told Business in Vancouver.

The episodes can also be viewed on the Crowdfunder Show website.

Each episode will focus on six or seven projects and Hatton will appear on each episode to give advice on how to launch and manage a successful fundraising campaign.

There are numerous crowdfunding platforms, but Merton TV chose FundRazr as the preferred platform to augment the TV series.

"While the Crowdfunder TV show broadcast will be the driver of campaign success, we also wanted to ensure that the campaigns will be optimized for online presentation and social sharing and finally, that the funds collection and perks claims could be done in a highly secure manner, " said executive producer Jordan Whelan.

"After careful review, FundRazr was the first proven crowdfunding platform that met our requirements for ease of use, flexible campaign lengths, strong customer service and tight social media integration."

FundRazr campaigns will likewise benefit from the additional publicity that TV will bring, Hatton said.

"Obviously, they're able to tell the story to a much wider audience of people," Hatton said.

FundRazr's platform allows anyone to launch an online fundraising campaign for a range of non-commercial purposes projects – from disaster relief efforts and legal defences to art projects and raising money for sick kids needing expensive operations.
