The BC Medical Association (BCMA) plans to abandon the name that it has used for more than 100 years on January 20.
From then on, it will be known as Doctors of BC and will have a new logo.
The organization represents physicians, medical students and medical residents in B.C. and is a non-profit, voluntary organization.
BCMA is separate from the regulatory body, the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Its name change is the most visible part of the BCMA's three-year strategic plan and the organization said that it is adopting the new name because its stakeholders believe that it better reflects the goal of stronger engagement between physicians and local communities.
