Vancouver’s Browns Restaurant Group has opened its first Browns Socialhouse location in Eastern Canada, continuing its strategy of rapid growth.
The new Mississauga restaurant, located in the city’s Erin Mills neighbourhood, is the chain’s 30th Canadian location and 34th location overall, including four restaurants in the United States operating as Scotty Browns.
There are 16 Browns Socialhouse restaurants in the Lower Mainland and 21 in British Columbia.
The chain’s COO and vice-president development Bruce Fox said the company has wanted to expand into Eastern Canada for a while.
“Our model has been fully embraced by Western markets, and we're looking forward to seeing similar success out east, starting with our Erin Mills location,” Fox said.
“This community was an easy choice. There is a solid demographic fit for the brand with all the nearby residential development, and there is a strong lunch time business with several industrial parks close by housing hundreds of businesses.”
This is Browns’ fifth opening in the past six weeks, including one in Maple Ridge.
In April, Browns Restaurants was named Canada’s best new franchise by the Canadian Franchise Association – the first time a restaurant took home a gold in this category.
The company has been in operation since 2004. It has said it plans to continue its rapid expansion throughout Canada and in the U.S. In July, it announced it planned to open up to 10 restaurants in Calgary over the next seven years.
