Vancouver’s BroadbandTV (BBTV) is partnering up with news aggregator The Huffington Post to launch an online video journalism network.

Outspeak allows reporters to use BBTV’s suite of tools and services to create video content that will appear on The Huffington Post’s domain and on YouTube.

The digital broadcaster did not have any content providers signed upon its launch Tuesday (June 9) but BBTV and The Huffington Post said in a release they would reach out directly to potential partners.

BBTV has 4.5 billion monthly views across its digital video platforms, while The Huffington Post reaches more than 200 million unique monthly visitors.

A BBTV spokesman declined to discuss terms of the partnership and whether it involved a profit-sharing arrangement or an exchange of cash for services.

In a joint statement, the companies said “a multi-million dollar investment” was made developing the Outspeak brand.

A BBTV spokesman told Business in Vancouver no one from the digital broadcaster was available for an interview.
