Vancouver-headquartered Telus Communications (TSX:T) made its mark on employees and earned a coveted spot on the 25 Best Places to Work in Canada list created by Indeed, a Canadian job searching site.

The company made it to the top five, coming in third on the list.  Some reviewer comments about Telus recognized the company as providing a “great work/life balance” and “a flexible work environment.”

Telus has been recognized as a “forward-thinking organization” that embarks on philanthropic efforts and values a “customer first” philosophy, according to the report.

“Companies that are willing to evolve and invest in their workforce will continue to attract and retain top talent,” said Jodi Kasten, managing director at Indeed Canada. “Our data also spotlights that while compensation and job security are always top of mind for employees, a positive company environment and good management are also key factors in making a company a great place to work.”

Another Vancouver-based company, Ledcor, also made it to the top 25 list. Coming in at number 16, the construction company valued teamwork, hard work, and safety as their priorities, Indeed said. One reviewer said, “Ledcor has a great on-boarding program which allows new employees to get started comfortably.”

The top spot on the list was taken by RBC, which was founded in Toronto. The reviews for the company commended the company’s fast-paced environment and friendly atmosphere.  RBC was also credited for providing “support for career advancement” for their employees.

In the number two spot was the Toronto Transit Commission, a public transit agency. The fourth spot went to vehicle manufacturer General Motors while the top five was rounded out by The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

Indeed said it determines the best places to work in Canada after looking through company reviews from employees. Indeed looked at over 600,000 employee reviews left between June 2015 and May 2017 in order to identify the top 25 companies.
