Whistler is helping Vancouver start 2018 looking like an awfully frugal destination.

A survey from CheapHotels.org reveals partygoers taking in New Year’s Eve in B.C.’s best-known resort town will have to shell out $745 for the cheapest available double room.

That’s four times more expensive than the cheapest double room available in Vancouver, listed at $179 for December 31.

The rankings only examined hotels with a central location and rated at least three stars.

CheapHotels.org’s survey noted that Whistler is “virtually sold out for New Year's Eve.”

Whistler topped the cross-Canada rankings for most expensive overnight New Year’s Eve destinations, while Vancouver came in at No. 7.

Victoria ranked No. 9, with its cheapest available double room listed at $149.

For those whose New Year’s resolution is to cut down on costs, Winnipeg ranked at the bottom of the list at No. 20. The cheapest double room in Winnipeg is available for $107 on December 31.
