OSFI sets new mortgage rules beginning January 1, 2018– October 18, 2017

In October, Canada’s banking watchdog announced a new set of mortgage rules that have now taken effect as of January 1, 2018. The rules, which make it more difficult for many Canadians to qualify for mortgages, are intended to decrease the risks of households with high levels of indebtedness as interest rates rise.
