B.C. firms are dominating the TSX Venture Exchange’s annual list of its top performers.
The West Coast was home to 27 out of last year’s top 50 companies based on market capitalization growth, share price appreciation and trading volume.
Garibaldi Resources Corp. (TSX-V:GGI), a junior miner with assets in Canada and Mexico, topped the nationwide rankings with a 2,351% year-over-year gain in market capitalization in 2017.
More than 150,000,000 of its shares were traded throughout the year, while its share prices appreciated 1,722%.
Other top performers from B.C. include Mission Ready Services Inc. (TSX-V:MRS); BTL Group (TSX-V:BTL), the first-ever publicly traded blockchain company in Canada; and Uniserve Communications Corporation (TSX-V:USS).
The top 50 list is based the 10 best performers from five industries: cleantech and life sciences, diversified industries, energy and energy services, mining, and technology.
B.C.-based mining companies held nine out of the 10 spots in that category.
