A Richmond-based company specializing in keeping food and beverages cool inside delivery trucks has taken the top prize at the Innovate BC-New Ventures competition.
Volta Air Technologies is walking away with $110,00 in prize money following the Monday (September 24) awards at the Telus World of Science.
The company produces all-electric, zero-emission cooling units for local delivery vehicles that can keep products inside chilled without running the vehicles’ engines.
Other winners include Cyberdontics Inc., a startup from the Interior developing an advanced dental drill; and Vancouver-based Medimap, which is reducing wait times at walk-in clinics.
Cyberdontics and Medimap received prize packages valued at $60,000 and $35,000, respectively.
Other winners include CRM GeoTomography Technologies Inc. ($20,000 B.C. resource industry prize package), Careteam Technologies Inc. ($17,000 Vancity social venture prize package) and Quupe Technologies Inc. ($6,000 B.C. Tech Association growth programs prize package).
Cyberydontics also received an additional $10,000 Innovate BC top regional startup prize package and a $15,000 CDRD life sciences prize package.
The 18th annual competition helped kicked off Vancouver Startup Week, running through to September 28.
