A popular brand of herbal tea is being recalled from the marketplace in B.C. due to possible Salmonella contamination.
Gaia Garden Herbals Inc. is recalling its Gaia Garden Herbal Dispensary brand Gaia Balancing Tea, which is sold in a number of stores across the province. So far, however, there have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this tea.
The recall was issued on Tuesday, July 23, and consumers are advised to throw out recalled products or return them to the store where they were purchased. They must not consume the recalled products, and those who are unsure if they have purchased the affected product are advised to contact their retailer.
The Gaia Balancing Tea has no UPC, but the affected products were sold from June 12, 2019 to July 22, 2019.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is currently conducting a food safety investigation, which may lead to the recall of other products.
The CFIA notes that food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. In addition, young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.
Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
