Black Friday sales mean heavy traffic, warns YVR Airport

You might not even be out to shop for deals on Black Friday and over the weekend, but big sales at a popular mall are expected to cause traffic delays for anyone heading in or out of Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

You might not even be out to shop for deals on Black Friday and over the weekend, but big sales at a popular mall are expected to cause traffic delays for anyone heading in or out of Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

YVR is warning travellers or their kind-hearted rides that the annual shopping bonanza at the nearby McArthurGlen Designer Outlet on Friday, and through the weekend, that they should expect delays on the roads.

“We are working closely with traffic management personnel and RCMP traffic enforcement; however, we anticipate heavy congestion and those travelling to and from the airport should expect delays,” notes YVR.

Headed to the airport or the mall? As always, the Canada Line can be your best bet. If you must drive to the airport, be sure to leave extra time and have a plan for parking.

“For those planning to use the Value Long Term lot, adjacent to Templeton Station, be aware that you may face lengthier delays due to the close proximity to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet,” points out YVR.
