Cannabis

Joel Dumaresq and Nicco Dehaan have been appointed interim CEO and chief operating officer, respectively, at Christina Lake Cannabis Corp. (CLC). Dumaresq previously served as the company’s director and chief financial officer. Dehaan is currently a director of the company. Benjamin Asuncion resigned as a director and Arie Prins has stepped down as president, chief executive officer and a director of the company effective immediately. Asuncion will remain as an adviser to the company.

Gil Playford and Mervin Boychuk have joined CLC’s advisory committee to provide management with input and advice as the company nears production. Playford is currently one of the largest shareholders of the company and senior mining executive and founder of LionOre Mining International. Boychuk is a significant shareholder of CLC.

Development/Construction

Atsushi Fujimi has joined NSDA Architects as an associate. Fujimi joined the company in 2001. He has worked on the delivery of affordable rental housing, supportive housing and complex care facilities.  

Education

Chris (Syeta’xtn) Lewis and James B. Stewart have been appointed chair and deputy chair, respectively, of the board of governors at Simon Fraser University effective January 15, 2020. Lewis previously served as deputy chair.

Legal

Becky Rock has joined DLA Piper (Canada) LLP as an associate in the Vancouver office. She practises corporate and commercial law with a primary focus on drafting and negotiating commercial agreements. Rock previously practised at a national Canadian business law firm.

Manufacturing

Martin Juravsky has resigned as Interfor Corp.’s senior vice-president and chief financial officer effective April 30, 2020, to pursue another opportunity with a Toronto-based publicly listed company.

Technology

Moe Paknahad has joined Cannabix Technologies Inc. as vice-president of technology development. Paknahad will help direct product development of Cannabix’s THC breathalyzer devices. He previously served as a product development specialist at CellScale Biomaterials Testing.

Companies on the move

Name change

Integrated Cannabis Co. Inc. is now known as Icanic Brands Co. Inc. There will be no change to the stock symbol. The company’s common shares will continue to trade under the ticker “ICAN” on the Canadian Securities Exchange.

Hats Off

Doug Allan, Alan Cosgrave and Christopher Lythgo received an Early Achievement Award from the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia. The award recognizes chartered professional accountants who distinguish themselves early in their careers through professional achievement and volunteer service, with an emphasis on professional accomplishments.

Crossroads Hospice Society partnered with Meridian Arms Pub in Port Coquitlam to raise $5,000 through 50/50 draws in support of end-of-life care.

Global BC donated $32,000 to the broadcast and online journalism program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in support of bursaries, awards and equipment in the program.
