B.C. to offer next COVID-19 update Monday

B.C.’s daily update on the COVID-19 situation will not be held Sunday (March 22), with Minister of Health Adrian Dix and provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry returning Monday to provide new data.

That update will be at 10 a.m. PT from Victoria.

On Saturday (March 21) Henry said there are 74 new tested cases of COVID-19.

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control said as of March 21 there were 424 confirmed cases. 

Six people have recovered but 10 have died.

By provincial region, the case numbers are:

• 230 in Vancouver Coastal Health

•126 in Fraser Health;

• 27 in Interior Health;

• 37 in Island Health, and;

• 4 in Northern Health.

There were 17,912 tests complete as of March 20.
Henry has recommended people stay home as much as possible.

Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu on Sunday suggested those who do not comply might soon face fines or arrest.

Anyone concerned about exposure to the virus, or are experiencing symptom should contact their primary care provider, local public health office, or call 8-1-1.
