A media report from London appears to show documents that indicate Chinese tech giant Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. violated U.S. sanctions on Iran - a charge central to the arrest and requested extradition of company CFO Meng Wanzhou in Vancouver.

According to a Reuters review of Huawei’s internal documents from 2010, the company was allegedly shipping Hewlett-Packard equipment to an Iranian telecom operator that year.

Huawei has said since Meng’s arrest in December 2018 that the company will not comment on the situation due to the current legal proceedings, but maintains its innocence in applying with “all applicable laws and regulations” in the markets they operate.

The reviewed documents included packing lists showing Tehran as the destination, according to Reuters.

Meng is awaiting the next phase of her extradition hearing in Vancouver, scheduled to resume in April. During her defence, Meng has argued that - since Canada is not party to the U.S. Iranian sanctions - such an act if it were to take place would not constitute an arrestable offence in Canada, thus requiring Canadian courts to dismiss the case.

Meanwhile, U.S. prosecutors have now accused Huawei of engaging in violating sanctions by operating in another market - North Korea - in a supplemental charge issued last month.
