There have been four additional deaths from COVID-19 since Monday, bringing B.C.'s death toll to 43, but hospitalizations, intensive care numbers and new cases are down.
There were 25 new confirmed COVID-19 cases since Monday, bringing the total to 1,291. Of those who have tested positive for COVID-19, 213 have been in long-term care: 132 residents and 81 staff.
Hospitalizations fell from 140 Monday to 138, and patients in intensive care fell from 72 to 66.
Of the 1,291 confirmed cases, 805 people have fully recovered.
Despite some promising signs that new cases may be getting close to plateauing, public health officer Bonnie Henry and B.C. Health Minister Adrian Dix reiterated the importance on maintaining restrictions on movement and social interaction.
And they reiterated their plea to people of faith to not participate in public religious festivities like Easter and for people not to travel to summer homes on the upcoming long weekend.
“This is not the weekend to travel to summer homes and cottages,” Dix said.
Given how many Albertans come to B.C. to fish and stay at cottages, Henry was asked if B.C. might close the border to Alberta.
"it's not something that I believe I have the authority to do, to be honest, and it's not something that I believe is necessary at this point," she said.
Henry said her office has had a conference call with 130 faith leaders to get their agreement not to hold public ceremonies.
In the event that someone noticed her new haircut and jumped to the conclusion she had bent the rules and seen a stylist -- at a time when hair salons and barbers are shut down -- Henry told reporters she had cut her own hair.
Dix said B.C. has received two "major shipments" of personal protective equipment arrive. The equipment must be tested before it is distributed to hospitals and care homes.
