While malls and streets have gotten quieter, grocery stores are still bustling with people during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Two Richmond Asian grocery stores announced over the weekend they will be doing temperature checks at the door for all customers and staff before they enter the store.

T&T, which has two locations in Richmond, said in a statement that the screening measure was put in place to “protect the health and safety” of everyone in the grocery store.

Meanwhile, Foody World, on Sexsmith Road in north Richmond, also implemented the screening measure to prevent the spread.

Shoppers will only be allowed to enter after they get their temperatures checked.

A staff member at Foody World told the Richmond News that an employee will be stationed at the entrance with a forehead thermometer to ensure shoppers with fevers will be stopped from entering the store.

They added that gloves and face masks will be provided at the door for free for shoppers who don’t have them.

Other grocery stores in Richmond, such as Save On Foods, Walmart and Costco, are limiting the number of customers in their stores at a single time to ensure physical distancing practices.
