The 2022 reconfiguring of executive ranks at some of B.C.’s most high-profile tech companies is showing no signs of letting up.

E-commerce leader Cymax Group Technologies Ltd. revealed Thursday it’s hired Shouvik Roy as its new chief financial officer, taking over the role after Faheem Gwadry departed last year.

This comes the same day electric vehicle manufacturer Electra Meccanica Vehicles Corp. (Nasdaq:SOLO) announced the hiring of Kim Brinks, a former NASCAR LLC marketing executive, as its first chief revenue officer.

Earlier in the week, Vancouver-based unicorn Trulioo Information Services Inc. hired Michael Ramsbacker as the global identification company’s first chief product officer.

And last week fintech Mogo Inc. (TSX:MOGO) hired Salt Lake City-based Allan Smith as its first chief people officer.

“Think about all the additional hiring needed in a sector that's growing and that plays out in additional executive roles as well,” Stephanie Hollingshead, CEO of Vancouver-based Tech and People (TAP) Network, told BIV.

She said the recent burst of high-profile executive hires is unusual for the province’s tech scene

But with unprecedented amounts of investor capital flowing in, B.C. tech companies have been on a tear hiring workers as part of their expansion efforts.

A 2021 TAP survey found respondents' average planned headcount growth for last year was 37%, “which is really high,” said Hollingshead.

Other B.C. notable tech companies making changes to their C-suite since the start of 2022 include:

·      GeoComply Solutions Inc.: co-founder Anna Sainsbury hired as CEO; replaces co-founder David Briggs

·      Zymeworks Inc. (NYSE:ZYME): former board member Kenneth Galbraith hired as CEO; replaces co-founder Ali Tehrani

·      Clio (Themis Solutions Inc.): Curt Sigfstead hired as chief financial officer; replaces Rob Froment

·      BuildDirect.com Technologies Inc. (TSXV:BILD): David Lazar hired as interim CEO; replaces Dan Park
