Q&A with Solon Bucholtz, Forty Under 40 Winner 2020; Co-founder and CEO, LBC Studios Inc., Age 37

Who or what is responsible for your work ethic?

My family drives my desire to provide a quality of life that allows us all to chase our dreams.

What is your guilty pleasure?

Ice cream, chocolate, peanut butter, fine red wines and golf. One of those keeps me in shape.

What is the best book you would recommend?

The Four Agreements. Be impeccable with your word. Don’t take anything personally. Don’t make assumptions. Always do your best.

Now that you’re entering your 40s, what goals have you set for yourself?

Age hasn’t changed my goals of being a good partner, father and leader – they’ve strengthened the more precious time becomes.

Choose one of these five childhood career dreams: rock star, star athlete, prime minister, astronaut, detective.

Astronaut, because I love the idea of exploring uncharted space and gaining a different perspective.

Name your happiest place.

Collecting new experiences around the world with family and friends.

What was your toughest business or professional decision?

Pivoting my career by co-founding LBC with no experience in tech after building a successful real estate business for eight years.

Advice you would give your 20-year-old self?

Dream big, fail fast and learn to balance your priorities.

What is your best habit?

I set personal, professional and family goals and hold myself accountable to do one thing each day towards them.

Tell us one improbable fact about yourself.

I was homeless and dealt with addiction as a young adult.

Best piece of advice ever received?

Be an energy giver, not an energy taker.

What career highlight are you most proud of?

Having the privilege and trust to lead LBC and our team of amazingly talented people.
