A new international airline is coming to Vancouver International Airport.
Fiji Airways, Fiji's national carrier, announced July 5 that it will fly directly from Nadi, the largest city in the country, starting Nov. 25.
The airline will fly directly to and from Vancouver twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.
Managing director and CEO of Fiji Airways Andre Viljoen said Canada shows potential in the tourism and trade industries while "reconnecting Fijian families" at the same time.
"The Fijian diaspora in Canada is approximately 80,000 – people who have not been able to see their loved ones for two years and are eager to fly home. Fiji Airways now provides them with a more convenient means to do just that," said Viljoen.
Viljoen said the new route also offers Canadians an escape from the cold winter to Fiji.
