Vancouver-based coffee-shop chain Caffè Artigiano is continuing to open new cafès in former Starbucks locations.
The franchisor's 17th location is set to be at the corner of Howe and Hastings streets in downtown Vancouver, where Starbucks previously operated. Some other Caffè Artigiano stores in former Starbucks locations include one at 111 West Broadway in Vancouver, and in Whistler's North Village near the Olympic Plaza.
Entrepreneur Imee Centeno is set to own the new store, which has 20 interior seats and 16 patio seats.
In the late 1990s, entrepreneurial brothers Vince and Sam Piccolo opened the first Caffè Artigiano locations on Hornby Street, West Pender Street and West Hastings Street in downtown Vancouver. They then sold the business to former Earls executive Willie Mounzer.
All but three Caffè Artigiano locations are in B.C., while the others are in Calgary.
