A Vancouver daycare company is alleging multiple people defamed it in postings put on Google reviews, a lawsuit filed in B.C. Supreme Court says.

The plaintiff is Children’s Shire Preschool doing business as Our Hamlet Childcare and previously known as Seaview Montessori.

The company is suing Babak and Julia Izadi; Parto Nemati and Sana Goldan; and Pranjali Deshpande, all of Port Moody.

“The defendants are all parents who previously had their child or children enrolled in daycare at Seaview,” said the notice of civil claim filed April 24.

All the parents gave the company one-star reviews and made lengthy comments that the company alleges are defamatory. It said the reviews were posted on or around March 3.

Glacier Media will not repeat the alleged defamatory comments for legal reasons.

The claim said Seaview’s lawyer wrote to the defendants March 24 asking for the comments to be removed — which they were.

But, the claim said, Julia and Babak Izadi posted new reviews on March 25. The latter noted he had been served a defamation lawsuit.

“Sadly & unfairly, only good reviews by parents that have had a good experience with this daycare are allowed on this page,” he wrote, the claim said

Deshpande also posted again while Goldan and Nemati gave one-star reviews, the claim said.

“In addition, the defendants have contacted other parents of children at Seaview and further defamed the plaintiff,” the claim said.

The company’s suit said the alleged comments have “seriously injured its reputation, character and business.”

The lawsuit claims general, special, punitive and aggravated damages.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
