Get ready to sit back, chill and eat some tasty West Coast fare at a new California-inspired restaurant opening at the old Earls location in Brentwood.

Birdies Eats & Drinks, owned by Earls Kitchen + Bar, is opening Friday, July 7 for lunch, dinner, drinks and weekend brunch with happy hour and late-night happy hour features daily.

With a 20-seat terrazzo countertop bar and a 75-seat patio, the new restaurant at 3850 Lougheed Hwy. promises to be a fun night out.

The restaurant will also include a “Provisions area” where customers can buy ready-to-eat meals, ingredients and sauces from “well-known local brands,” according to a press release.

While Birdies is developed and owned by Earls, the company says it will have “a completely new concept in look, feel, menu and design” which will create a “more laid-back, fun and casual feel.”

“We are thrilled to be bringing an all-new restaurant concept to Greater Vancouver this summer,” said director of operations Marshall Fuller, whose family is known for founding and growing what is now the 68-location Earls Kitchen + Bar restaurant chain as well as the 31-location Joey Restaurants chain.

“We see an opportunity in the market for a casual, fun concept with high-quality, addictive food and drinks at an inviting price point.”

The menu, designed by chef David Wong, includes bites like the “Oh So Sticky Korean Ribs,” Thai noodle salad, and rigatoni arrabiata.

For brunch, taste a poached pear Dutch baby pancake or aloha bowl. Brunch runs weekends from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Margaritas are featured as the “heart of the cocktail menu.” You can pick from a classic fresh-squeezed margarita, or pick a spicy verdita marg, strawberry sour margarita or the blue crush margarita with blue curacao and a proprietary shimmering yuzu syrup.

All of Birdies’ wines are “sustainably grown with vegan, organic and natural wine options.”

Happy hour has half-priced drinks during brunch hours.

The restaurant itself is filled with an abundance of natural light and has a relaxed feel designed by Emily Stadnyk and Elly Chronakis. The space is filled with plants, colourful fabrics and bright interiors.
