The City of Vancouver is launching a new app for park and theatre concessions.

The VanEats app will let locals skip long line-ups at popular beaches, pools, and theatres by pre-ordering and pre-paying for food and drinks up to several days in advance, according to a news release by the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation.

The app also lets users save their favourite items for future orders.

The online streamlined ordering option is available at concession stands at:

  • Second Beach
  • Third Beach
  • Lumberman's Arch
  • Sunset Beach
  • Kitsilano Pool
  • Jericho Beach
  • Locarno Beach
  • Spanish Banks East

Vancouver's beach concession menus feature a range of casual classics, like beef or veggie burgers, fish and chips, and hot dogs, as well as things like ramen, corn on the cob, and frozen treats. You can even order up a salad made with greens grown at Vancouver parks and golf courses.

The app can also be used for orders at city-run theatres, which will also offer snacks as well as B.C. wine and local beer options:

  • Queen Elizabeth Theatre
  • Vancouver Playhouse
  • Orpheum
  • Annex

“By providing this 'skip the concessions line' option before the show and during intermission, VanEats offers our audience members the opportunity to enjoy their refreshments while exploring all that our venues have to offer before taking their seats for the show!"  says Natalie Lue, Director of Vancouver Civic Theatres.

The app can be downloaded on both Apple and Android devices.
