Glacier Media is pleased to announce the advancement of Hayley Woodin Hastings, who has served as BIV’s Editor-in-Chief since January 2023. She will assume an elevated leadership role at BIV and within Glacier Media, effective immediately.

We also want to express our gratitude for the contributions of Kirk LaPointe during his tenure with Glacier Media, most recently as publisher of BIV and as vice-president of editorial for Glacier.

In her expanded role, Hayley will assume broader responsibilities that encompass leadership of BIV events, strategic initiatives, partnership development and the digital expansion of BIV’s unmatched business journalism. Her leadership and vision will be pivotal in steering the growth and continued success of BIV

Hayley will also assume editorial oversight of The Orca, Western Canada’s hub for advocacy, argument and aspiration. This move aligns with our commitment to ensuring excellence across all of Glacier Media’s platforms.

Since starting her career with Glacier as a freelance reporter in 2014, Hayley has produced award-winning journalism for BIV and contributed to the editorial development and expansion of BIV across platforms. She has been integral to the success and expansion of BIV’s magazine portfolio, multimedia products and events.

In 2022, Hayley graduated at the top of Columbia Journalism School’s graduating class as valedictorian and with a master’s of science degree in journalism.

She is an Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholar (2022), a Pulitzer Travelling Fellow (2022-23), a Pulitzer Center Fellow (2022), a Gumshoe Reporting Fellow (2022) and a past Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada Media Fellow (2017-18).

Hayley also sits on the boards of Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland, the White Rock Youth Ambassador Program Society and the Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) Alumni Association, and serves as chair of KPU’s journalism program advisory committee.

Hayley’s commitment to providing insightful and engaging content will continue to drive BIV forward. We are confident that under Hayley's leadership, BIV will continue to deliver the exceptional editorial quality and relevance expected by BIV’s audience and partners.
