Celeste Haldane, chief commissioner of the British Columbia Treaty Commission, tackles economic reconciliation, work-life balance and taking risks.
"Part of taking risk is knowing when to actually push a boundary to make some change," she says. In her professional and volunteer roles, Haldane is working to push boundaries and move the needle on reconciliation. Investing in talent, respect and communication are key to that mission, and to the work of being a leader.
"We have to ensure that we are hearing everyone's voices. Sometimes we aren't going to like what we hear, and sometimes they might not like what we have to say either. But it's about creating that space, and it's about having that dialogue."
