On BIV Today…

The founder of Canadian Direct Insurance is back in the insurance game with a new venture. Colin Brown (28:46)), former chief underwriter at ICBC and now the CEO of Stratford Underwriting Agency, says he is disappointed that the private sector hasn’t stepped up to offer British Columbians alternatives to ICBC’s optional auto insurance. Brown and Joshua Krenus, CEO of Alteri Insurance, discuss B.C.’s auto insurance landscape.

BIV’s weekly tech panel (1:05) tackles how WeWork works, the company’s IPO prospectus and its efforts to brand itself a tech company. Gluu Technology Society founder Linda Fawcus and technology executive Geoff Fawkes also discuss how social media platforms are handling Beijing’s spin on the Hong Kong protests, how tech trends will affect B.C. employment and what ride-hailing will look like when it finally rolls out on B.C. roads.
