Attendees at an upcoming Asian tourism expo in Richmond could leave with prizes including cruises, flight tickets and personalized travel trips.
The 2023 Travel Expo, where the draws for prizes will take place, is being organized by Taiwan Chamber of Commerce in BC (TCCBC) for the first time.
Businesses and organizations will showcase tourism offerings in Taiwan and other Asian countries.
The free event at the Radisson Hotel Vancouver Airport takes place on Sunday, Nov. 19.
There will be representatives from the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, Tourism Malaysia, airlines, travel agencies, cruise lines and other organizations to get the information they need.
“Now is the time when people may start to plan for their vacation next year. We hope this expo will provide them an opportunity to explore different ways of travelling and receive the right information [from tourism professionals],” said Margaret Liu, president of TCCBC.
“We also hope professionals in the industry can meet and exchange information with each other at the event.”
Liu said Taiwan is now fully open to international tourists – there are flights taking off from Vancouver International Airport to Taipei every day.
“Taiwan is summer throughout the year with a nice climate and it’s warm in winter. And the landscape is very different from the north of the island to the south,” she said.
“It’s also very budget friendly for Canadians with delicious food, friendly people and a safe society.”
