China is unhappy about the growing economic ties between neighbours South Korea and the Philippines.
Reports say Beijing sent a sharp message to Seoul before the October 17 summit between South Korea’s president Park Geun-hye and Philippines president Benigno Aquino.
At the summit, Park and Aquino signed an economic co-operation deal – early fruit of which is South Korea’s sale of FA-50 light attack aircraft, as well as frigates, to Manila.
Beijing is concerned the Philippines will use its new warplanes and warships in confrontations with China.
