Christy Clark to meet Japan’s ambassador to Canada in first B.C. visit

Norihiro Okuda, Japan’s recently appointed Ambassador to Canada, is scheduled to pay his first official visit to British Columbia from this Sunday (October 6) until Wednesday.

During his four-day stay, Okuda will meet B.C. Premier Christy Clark, Teresa Wat, B.C.’s minister of international trade, and Steve Thomson, B.C.’s minister of forests, lands and natural resource operations, as well as other government officials and business and community interest groups.

In Vancouver, Okuda is scheduled to address the Canada-Japan Society of British Columbia and be hosted at a dinner by local Japanese-Canadian groups.

In addition to meetings on political and economic matters, he is scheduled to tour sites of historical importance to Japanese Canadians such as the old Japan town on Powell Street, Vancouver, and Murakami House in Steveston, Richmond.
