Japan’s health-care robots are finding a market in Europe as the percentage of the population aged 65 or older is expected to reach 25% by 2040.
Japan recently signed an agreement with Germany’s most populous province, North Rhine-Westphalia, to promote the use of a robotic suit called Hybrid Assistive Limb, which helps patients move their limbs by reading information from sensors on their skin. Another popular device is PARO, a seal-shaped robot that is believed to have therapeutic effects on patients.
