Two-way trade reached $30 billion last year from $14.9 billion in 2007. Indonesia is the biggest customer among Southeast Asia countries for South Korea’s defence industry.

In 2011, Indonesia awarded two massive defence contracts to South Korea, one for the purchase of submarines and the other for T-50 Golden Eagle supersonic trainer jet aircraft.
