Carole Taylor worked in public affairs broadcasting for many years, covering the Yom Kippur War, the revolution in Chile, devastating floods in Honduras as well as Canadian politics. Her interest in public policy led to Municipal politics where she served for 2 terms as a Vancouver Councillor. Eventually, Carole’s political involvement led to the Provincial arena where she was named British Columbia’s Minister of Finance, introducing one of the first comprehensive carbon taxes in 2008.
Along the way Carole Taylor served as Chair of the CBC/Radio-Canada, Chair of the Vancouver Port, Chair of Ports Canada and Chair of the Vancouver Board of Trade. She was also named Director of more than two dozen Boards including Bell Canada, TD Bank, HSBC Holdings, Fairmont Hotels and Canadian Pacific Ltd.
Carole served as Chancellor Emeritus of Victoria University at the University of Toronto, Chancellor Emeritus Simon Fraser University and a member of the Trilateral Commission, and as Vice-Chair of the Audain Art Museum.
Carole Taylor was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada and awarded the Order of British Columbia.
