Vancouver’s 1-800-GOT-JUNK? has expanded its presence in the United States with the purchase of a junk removal company located in California’s Bay Area.
Delete, which has based its core operations around allowing customers to text pictures of the junk they want removed and then arranging for pickup, will operate in San Francisco as a partner of the B.C. company. 1-800-GOT-JUNK? CEO and founder Brian Scudamore said he is excited to see how the new arrangement will help Delete evolve as a company.
“We know in order to sustain the exponential growth we’re experiencing, we need to find ways to continue to innovate and become even more customer-centric,” Scudamore said. “Delete gained tremendous traction in a short time by eliminating friction for their customers.”
Delete, which was founded in 2015, has operations in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley. Company founder Nate Warner, who has worked with Red Bull in the past, will stay on as general manager for operations in the area.
“Looking at our two companies, it was clear we were both thinking about the same things – sustainability, efficiency and customer service – just addressing them in different ways,” Warner said. “I’m excited to see how we can innovate together and find new ways to delight our customers.”
O2E, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?’s parent company, said the acquisition of Delete is part of a larger strategy to evolve its business model to be more “customer-centric.”
The announcement comes on the heels of the launch of a pilot project between 1-800-GOT-JUNK? and RBC, which gives new mortgage clients a free move.
