The Burnaby Board of Trade has announced Angie Whitfield as its new CEO.
Whitfield, who was the executive director of the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce, will take over the position from Paul Holden, who announced his retirement in November 2023.
“I deeply admire the work of the Burnaby Board of Trade and am grateful for the opportunity to lead the next chapter," Whitfield said in a news release.
"Building a community that supports business is a passion of mine, and I wholeheartedly believe in the power of a strong Board of Trade. I'm excited to work with the talented team and committed board of directors and connect with the membership and partners.”
Whitfield will attend the Burnaby Board of Trade's Annual General Meeting on June 13 and will officially take over the role on Aug. 12.
"Angie Whitfield brings over twenty years of exceptional leadership experience in community engagement, program development, and event management to our organization," the BBOT statement added.
"Throughout her career, Angie has consistently demonstrated an impressive ability to build strong relationships, foster collaboration, and connect diverse groups to achieve shared goals that positively impact the communities she serves."
Before becoming the New West Chamber's executive director, Whitfield managed programs and major events for the Downtown New Westminster Business Improvement Association for six years.
Holden, who held the top BBOT position for 13 years, said he is certain Whitfield will take the organization to new heights after his departure.
“I’m delighted that Angie is assuming the role of CEO at the BBOT and am certain she will take the organization to new heights delivering even greater value to our members and the community."
BBOT represents more than 1,100 member businesses.
