Founder and CEO, Terra Nova Medical Clinics
Age 38
What career highlight are you most proud of?
I’m incredibly proud of being named one of Canada’s Most Powerful Women: Top 100, a recognition that highlights my work in transforming healthcare at Terra Nova Medical Clinics. Leading our growth across British Columbia, I’ve focused on initiatives that enhance patient care and foster an inclusive, supportive workplace culture. From integrating advanced technology to promoting team-based care, every effort is aimed at improving patient access and staff well-being. Knowing we’re making a significant impact on both our community’s health and our employees’ satisfaction inspires me to continue raising the standard for health-care excellence in Canada.
What has been your toughest business or professional decision to date?
Managing Terra Nova Medical Clinics’ rapid expansion while maintaining our core values of quality care and staff well-being. Balancing growth with our commitment to patient-centred care meant making strategic choices about hiring, technology investments and clinic locations. Ultimately, these decisions strengthened Terra Nova’s foundation and reaffirmed our dedication to exceptional health care.
How do you lead?
I lead with a collaborative and values-driven approach, focusing on fostering an inclusive, supportive environment where every team member feels valued and empowered. For me, leadership means setting a clear vision and purpose, especially in health care, where we’re not just managing tasks but impacting lives. I believe in leading by example—demonstrating compassion, dedication and resilience. Listening is central to my style; I prioritize open communication to understand my team’s needs and insights.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned in business?
The importance of adaptability. In health care, the landscape shifts rapidly and staying flexible is essential to thrive. I’ve found that being open to new ideas, pivoting strategies and continuously improving processes are key to sustainable growth. Building a resilient, values-driven team has also taught me that success comes from supporting and empowering people.
Best piece of advice ever received?
The best advice I ever received was to “trust yourself.” While I actively seek feedback from everyone, ultimately, it’s my team and I who are accountable, and I’ve thought through each decision deeply. This guidance reminds me to value my instincts and the thorough consideration I bring to every choice.
What is your definition of success?
Success is creating a positive, ethical and lasting impact—both on the health-care system and on the lives of the people within it. It means building Terra Nova Medical Clinics into a place where patients receive exceptional, compassionate care and where every team member feels valued, supported and motivated. Success is about more than growth; it’s about staying true to our core values of ethics, inclusivity and quality.
What are you most passionate about outside of work?
Spending time with my family and friends. They bring joy, balance and grounding to my life. I cherish our time together, as they are a constant source of inspiration and support. I’m also an avid reader and love immersing myself in books that broaden my understanding of the world and introduce me to new ideas.
What’s left to accomplish?
If I could, I would ensure that everyone in B.C. has access to a primary-care provider and that our health-care workplaces prioritize compassion, respect and support to prevent burnout. Expanding Terra Nova Medical Clinics and addressing the primary care shortage are steps toward that goal, but I’m equally dedicated to creating an environment where health-care providers feel valued and empowered. My ultimate goal is to make a lasting impact on both patient access and workplace practices.
Is there anyone you would like to thank or acknowledge?
I want to give a heartfelt thank you to my husband, Ali, a fellow family physician who has been growing Terra Nova Medical Clinics with me from the very beginning. I’m also deeply grateful to my mother and brother, who work with me every day, making this a true “family practice.” To my incredible team, who bring our mission to life with care and commitment, thank you for your passion and dedication. Each of you has played a vital role in this journey, and this recognition is as much yours as it is mine.
