Premier Christy Clark is planning to promote B.C. at the World Economic Forum (WEC) annual meeting of new champions on September 11 in Tianjin, China.
Clark will take part in a natural resources panel discussion and host a New West Partnership reception, along with Alberta and Saskatchewan, to promote Western Canada’s trade and investment advantages.
On the same trip, Clark will make her first official visit to Hong Kong. According to the provincial government, she will “engage in a series of high-level meetings, including with key partners in the province’s liquefied natural gas strategy,” both in Hong Kong and in Beijing.
The WEC attracts 1,500 global business executives and government leaders.
Earlier this year, Business in Vancouver investigated deals announced during Clark’s trade mission to Japan, Korea and the Philippines and reported that the deals would likely have occurred without the trip.
