BC Place, British Columbia Pavilion Corp., Jim Pattison, Pattison sues PavCo in BC Place lawsuit

Jim Pattison Industries (Pattison) is suing a variety of companies including B.C. Pavilion Corp. (PavCo) for $707,278 for work performed as part of the BC Place renovations.

Pattison alleges in its statement of claim that ES&A Sign Corp. contracted Pattison to provide labour and equipment related to installing video display units at the centre of the new BC Place and the expected price was $125,868.

It was understood, Pattison alleges, that if delays cost Pattison money or if Pattison had to duplicate work, that it would be compensated.

“In August and September 2011, the installation of video display units fell behind schedule due to no fault of Pattison,” Pattison alleges in its notice of civil claim.

The fact that the fascia video display steel supplied by the steel contractor was not square, out of level and inconsistent was one factor in this, Pattison alleges.

The result was that the centre-hung display unit was not level and Pattison had to perform extra work.

Pattison then lists 51 separate summaries of services provided as well as the amount billed in each case. That resulted in a total of $615,124 in extra work.

“Except for a deposit in the sum of $33,715 (including HST), ES&A has refused or neglected to make any further payment to Pattison,” Pattison alleges in the statement of claim.

None of these allegations has been proven in court.
